Empowering Civic Understanding Through Education.
Gaining a clear understanding of the federal judiciary and its role in our democracy is a vital step toward achieving equal justice for all. That goal lies at the heart of the Stephen G. Breyer Community Learning Center on Courts and the Constitution. Officially opened on March 25, 2025, the center provides civics education opportunities for learners of all ages and backgrounds throughout the First Circuit.
As the Creative Director for this landmark project, I developed the overall visual strategy for the Breyer Center, transforming a 2,800-square-foot space within the Joseph J. Moakley U.S. Courthouse into an engaging, educational environment. My role encompassed not only the direction, but the physical graphic design of all environmental graphics—from large-scale wall visuals to interpretive panels—ensuring a cohesive and impactful visitor experience.
Another major role was that I also led project management efforts, overseeing the printing, production and installation of all graphics, coordinating closely with vendors and courthouse stakeholders. To help guide spatial planning and presentations, I created a mobile 360-degree walk-around model in the center of the space that displays the steps in a trial. The result is an immersive civics learning center that supports the mission of making the judiciary more accessible and engaging for learners of all ages.
