Charlie Coyle Day in Weymouth

The town of Weymouth, Ma is turning 400 and they are already getting the party started!

Weymouth is just behind Plymouth in the birthday celebrations and Spin350 is proud to be the creative force behind the Weymouth400 brand. Weymouth400 has made it a goal to highlight their community history and values through events and commemorations over the next few years, culminating in a large celebration in 2022. The unique history of Weymouth will be on display through their efforts.

One of their most recent initiatives was to take over the Connell Rink and Pool. On August 10th, Weymouth Mayor Robert Hedlund announced a 10-year lease of the Connell building from the state’s Department of Conservation and Recreation, which had managed the facility for many years. Weymouth town officials say that local ownership will bring more ice time for Weymouth’s club and high school hockey teams and new programs at the pool.

As part of the ceremony, Weymouth born hockey stars Charlie Coyle of the Bruins and former Montreal Canadiens center Bobby Sheehan, were given ceremonial keys to the city. Mayor Hedlund also proclaimed August 10th to be “Charlie Coyle Day” in Weymouth. For more about Weymouth400 and all of the exciting things they are working on, check out
